Hyderabad always fascinated me since i started to know about different places in India.During my studies I got the chance to live there for almost 6 months. On a holiday we headed to visit RAMOJI film city, world's largest film studio complex as per 'guiness world records'.
Frequent buses are available from Hyderabad city to film city.We took bus from Kotti bus station. It took almost 1 hour to reach there. The huge gate of film city welcomed us even from far distance. It was huge.
We have to take the entry passes from the main entrance itself. The ticket charge is Rs: 600. Entry time is between 9 am and 5.30 pm.From the main entrance buses are available to take visitors into the studio.Bus journey was a little disappointment since i didn't find anything visually appealing .After 15 minute travel, the bus reached the main centre of studio. From there, there were buses that carry us to different spots inside the studio .Charisma garden,Japanese garden,Sanctuary garden,Leg garden,Mughal garden are the popular destinations for visitors. There was a guide inside the bus,he explained about the history of the studio and the different films that were shoot here. For me the guide appeared like a 'human radio' who speaks in a recorded manner.Beware, the guide will tell some jokes, don't forget to smile. The guide showed us different "sets" where many popular films were made. For me,the studio set of popular serial,Mahabharat, was quite amazing.Buses are available from each particular spot to another. It will be a bad idea if anyone wish to walk because the temperature is quite high in Hyderabad during day time.
Inside the studio there are 'sets' made for different films and large number of gardens. If we are lucky we can watch film shootings and sometimes our favourite stars acting. But unfortunately we didn't find any.
There are many theme based restaurants inside film city.Since outside food is not permitted ,we have depend on these restaurants. The quality of food is just average.SUPER STAR, DILSE, JIMMY'S DRIVE IN, CHANAKYA ,ALAMPANA and GUNSMOKE are the restaurants in film city. The buffet will cost almost Rs:150 for adults everywhere
There are also many parks and entertainment rides which mainly target children. Many shows are conducted inside the studio that tell us about the techniques used in film making, more specifically 'outdated techniques'.I didn't feel anything interesting in those stuffs. There are also many souvenir shops inside. We can find those souvenirs anywhere in Hyderabad at a much less price if we are good in bargaining.
Film city is a perfect place for those who likes to take photographs which earn them tonnes of 'likes' in social networking sites.Come here with a good camera.
I had a huge expectation about film city till i reach there, but now i can advise anyone who wishes to go there that don't expect too much, you will be disappointed. Ramoji film city is a must go place in Hyderabad,as it is one of the centre of south indian film industry and also world's largest film studio complex...
